Champion G5-PG-710 Commercial Juicer

This commercial juicer is a veteran to the juicing market and it has been around for over 20 years. It has customers with older units that still rave about their juicer. It features a powerful, heavy-duty 1/3 horsepower GE motor and a large 1.75” diameter feeding tube that allows large vegetables without cutting them.

The floating cutter on this Champion commercial juicer is designed to separate the juice from the pulp in one continuous operation that requires very little cleaning. The blades are cast into the cutter for superior strength, they are made of tempered stainless-steel and they never rust.

The Champion commercial juicer G5-PG-710 is a very versatile juicing machine that can juice perfectly all kinds of fruits and vegetables. It can make nut butters, frozen fruit sorbets, ice creams, sherbets, purees, muesli, salsa and many more. It is great for those that juice once or a few times a day.

The plastic parts on this Champion commercial juicer are nylon rather than just molded plastic which means they are much more flexible and shatter-proof. The cutting cone is just a durable piece of nylon on a large metal cutting shaft and the blades are not sharp like the ones on a centrifugal juicer.

On this great juicer the purpose of the “blades” is not just to cut, but they also force the food items around the cone in the outside housing and then over a curved screen at the bottom of the unit where the pressure and the brushing motion efficiently squeeze the juice out.

The cone on this excellent commercial juicer has an indentation that spits the pulp out the front. It is not the same as a single-auger juicer where the auger forces the food items against a screen at the front. I can’t say which one is better, or if one is better than the other, they are just different and excellent juicers.

This unit is not self-feeding, like the Omega VRT350, it actually comes with a pusher. You do not have to push hard to get it to feed as the cone turn while you apply pressure on the food, it grinds off bits of the food and sends them over to the juicing screen.

The Champion was built with quality and durability in mind and it is not just a bunch of plastic parts you have to be careful with. As most of them are nylon, they will not break if you drop them, they do not crack or deform, they just work. This is a high quality heavy-duty juicer for fruits and vegetables.

If you have been juicing greens for a while with a masticating juicer, it will come as no surprise that things are not much different with this commercial juicer either. What I mean is when you juice leafy greens they have to be alternated with hard food items like carrots, apples, celery, radishes etc.

This helps the Champion commercial juicer to properly and efficiently push the greens through. This applies to all the juicers out there too, you cannot run pounds and pounds of spinach or wheat-grass without a cleaning carrot or apple every once in a while.

Since the Champion commercial juicer G5-PG-710 is a masticating juicer too and the pulp comes out the cone in the front, you can juice the whole morning if you want to without stopping to empty anything. This unit does not overheat, jam or plug up.

The motor is very well-built and reliable and it does not require any service or maintenance. The pulp is really dry, but if you are not happy with it and want to extract even more juice out of it, there is a device called the People’s Press, where you can use your discharged pulp to get all the juice out of it.

With this amazing commercial juicer you can also use a blanking plate that you can put in place of the juicing screen to make great nut butters. You can also use it for frozen desserts, you just have to drop the frozen banana pieces down the chute for instance, and they will come out as ready-to-serve smoothies at the end of the cone.

The juicing works excellent with different filters to allow the pass-through of different degrees of pulp, none or some. It does not require a lot of force to feed the machine and you can make 2 quarts of very tasty organic juice in less than half the time it takes to wash the apples.

Any heat transfer form the motor along the shaft to the cutter is really insignificant. You just have to feed the machine at the right pace, the heat resulted from friction at the point of mastication is minimal. Feeding vegetables or fruits into the juicer should be done at an even speed, not too fast and too slow.

At the end of the juicing you just have to twist the cone exterior a few degrees and it is off. Reach over and pull off the cutting cone. Then you can take the juicing screen out and scrub it just like any other juicer, except that this one has a little curved screen and it is very easy to brush. You can just wash the cone assembly clean, then wash the cone and it is done.
